Fremont Rotary Club is proud to present the winning essays from the Rotary Four-Way Test Essay Contest held at Fremont Middle School.
 
We would like to thank Principal Marjoe Cooper for his support, Mrs. Polly Garlock and Mrs. Samantha Simcic, both Grade 8 English Language Arts Teachers for assisting our Club in organizing the essay contest among her 8th grade students.
 
The 8th grade students were asked to submit an essay of 1,500 words on topic: “Rotary’s Four-Way Test and What it Means to the Conduct of my Daily Life”.
 
Rotarian Christie thanked the judges which comprises: Past President Pam Hoesman (Executive Director of Birchard Public Library), Rotarian Jerome Webster (President of Terra State Community College), and our former Rotarian David Yonke (Editor of the Fremont News-Messenger) for reading the submitted essays and picked the winners.

I am pleased to announce the following winners of the 2017-18 District 6600 Essay Contest:
                First Place            #378      Morgan Shetzer                Fremont Club
                Second Place      #259      Daniel Kurek                      Bucyrus Club
                Third Place          #310      Analei Jackson                   Lima Club
Thanks to the eight clubs who participated in this event.  I believe the benefits to the students are great and it gives the local clubs an opportunity to interact with and influence students.  Participating clubs were Bucyrus, Fremont, North Coast, Perrysburg, Tiffin, Lima, St. Mary’s, and Bellevue.  
Thanks to the District Judges for taking time to score the essays.  The judges were Elizabeth Muether, Mike Makley, Mary Crehore and Heather Rutz.  Kudos to Mary for not scoring the essay from her club because she was able to recognize it.  
The district winner’s essay will be presented at the District 6600 Conference on Saturday, May 19that Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel.  The three winners will receive additional cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100 respectively.
 
Congratulations to Morgan Shetzer, our Club representative who won the 1st place at the District 6600 Rotary 4 Way Test Essay Contest.
