There are 5 main things I would like to focus on during my year as President: Attendance, Membership, Education, Club programs/efforts, and the Centennial.

Attendance – Butts in the seats!  I going to do my best to make the meetings enjoyable and meetings that you look forward to making every week.  I want there to be a certain level of FOMO associated with the meetings.  We will have dynamic speakers, maximize the networking time, and still accomplish the business of the club within the 11:45-1pm meeting format.

Membership – Currently we have 60 members, which I’m quite frankly very proud of.  We have 60 members that are involved to very involved. When I was at my PETS conference in Chicago in the early spring, I met with multiple future presidents of Rotary with populations on average of 30-40K people and their membership ranged from 20-30 members.  I think that we have a strong membership due to the leadership in our club and in the community.

I am however a competitive to unhealthily competitive person.  My goal by the end of my presidency is to increase our membership to 70 solid members.  I already have three different organizations in mind that I will be bringing to meetings in the next month or so.  CHS, SJCC, and the new owners of U-New.  My lofty goal is to get a member out of all three organizations!

I challenge all of you to really think of future members that can really add to our club. To better facilitate this, I want to create a membership committee that will serve for a term of 3 years.  Rather than having a new chair each year, I think this cohesiveness will better serve the club.  I have a Rotarian in mind to take on this leadership role, but have not run it by him yet (Scott)!

Education – One thing that I learned as a young company grade officer in the Marines was my Marines worked 5 times harder at accomplishing the mission when they were informed and understood the “why” to the operation.  I think that many times in the club we take for granted that everyone is up to date on what we are up to and what we have planned for the future. My goal is to better inform the members, especially the new members on who Rotary is, who our club is, and what we have going forward, and the health of our club’s Mission, Finances, and Membership.

Club programs/efforts – I enjoy and want to continue to really focus on our local club efforts.  I think this is where we make the biggest difference.

I also want to take a look at are we doing too much?  I think that we have done a nice job over the past few years of really making sure that our efforts are focused and not too spread out.  Really making the most of our volunteer hours and donations to make sure they make an impact!

Making sure that we all are contributing in some way.  We are all busy and there are different ways to contribute with both time and resources.  I appreciate the fact that our members do their best to make sure if they cannot help out with time, they help out with resources, and vice versa.

I would definitely like to expand our efforts outside our club in ways that are important to the members of the Fremont Rotary Club.  I think what Rotary International has done for Polio is nothing short of amazing.  I do however think that it has become an obsolete cause.  I hope that our club can start to influence the district to push for a new cause such as Hunger and the World Food Program.

I also want to continue to support efforts like the one’s our members are making down in South America with Irecema, Otto, and the Rotarians support they have received from Cheryl, John and others. Working to get matching grants to help really make a different.   Again, these are all efforts that are near and dear to our club’s hearts that I really want to help support.

Finally, the Centennial – This is truly going to be a meaningful year in the history of our club. We are going to choose what project or projects that we are going to complete for our centennial celebration. WE have some very meaningful meetings scheduled in the next few weeks that will be refining our top two to three choices for the club to choose from.

I think once we have a clear vision to share with the community, our fundraising effort will really take off.

Again, I encourage everyone to attend as many lunch meetings as possible in order to be a part of the decision-making process.
