Fremont Rotary Club provides shelter for Nepal earthquake victims

he Fremont Rotary Club has partnered with Rotary District 6600 and ShelterBox to provide emergency housing for some of the 8 million people impacted by the Nepal earthquakes. ShelterBox is an international relief charity that provides immediate assistance to people affected by natural disasters or conflicts. Each ShelterBox contains a tent for an extended family of up to 10 people, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, stove, basic tool kit, children’s activity pack, and other essential items. 

 

The local Rotary Club collected $4000, which, with a match from the District, will purchase 8 ShelterBoxes, housing up to eighty people. Rotary District 6600, which includes Fremont, raised more than $100,000 for the project.
