Sandusky Co. Chamber recognizes top members, citizens

FREMONT - The Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce honored several of its members at the chamber's 71st Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday night.
Three businesses received the Member of the Year Awards: Small Division – Anjulina's Catering and Banquet Hall; Medium Division – Fremont ACE Hardware; and Large Division – Century Die Company.
Jody Clark was presented with the Citizen of the Year Award; Douglas Beck received the Award of Excellence; Christie Weininger received the Clark Ambassador Award; and Marc Glotzbecker was presented with the Distinguished Service Award.
More than 200 people attended the event held in the Neeley Center at Terra State Community College.
Clark, chairwoman of the Chamber's Ambassador Committee, was recognized for her devotion to the general welfare of the county. She is a Sandusky County Relay For Life Committee Member and Luminary Chairperson, Northwest Ohio Territory Lead for the American Cancer Society, Sandusky County Cancer Care Fund, Erie County's Making Strides event committee member, Sandusky County Humane Society's Whiskers and Whine Committee, and Soroptimist International (currently District Director). For her own Relay for Life Team, she has created a successful fundraiser called "Bags, Baubles & Bubbly, a Girls Night Out", which is going into its 6th year and has raised over $55,000 to support the mission of the American Cancer Society.
Beck, recipient of the Award of Excellence, is president of Beck Suppliers and was the 2016 President of Rotary Club. He is a long-time supporter of Boy Scouts of America and Back to the Wild, plus serves on the Board of Sandco Industries.
Weininger, executive director of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums, received the Clark Ambassador Award. She was noted for her 2016 work in promoting and representing Sandusky County through her efforts in organizing the centennial celebration of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums.
Marc Glotzbecker was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for his dedication to his community and area involvement. He serves on the Mental Health Board, and is involved with the Fremont City Schools Mentoring Program, Gibsonburg Community Corp., Sandusky County Economic Development Practitioners Group, and Gibsonburg Lions Club. Also on Sept. 11, 2016, his hard work paid off and the Public Safety Service Memorial was dedicated in Gibsonburg.
At the dinner, the chamber celebrated its 2016 accomplishments and provided an outlook for 2017 to their members.
In addition, the chamber recognized volunteers and the board of trustees. The chamber welcomed incoming 2017 Board of Trustees members David Amarante, Thomas Bowlus, Angie Chlosta, Nichole Nitschke, and Dan Polter. Jodi Albright of Croghan Colonial Bank will serve as board chairwoman for 2017.
