The Fremont Rotary Foundation recently donated $400 to Dr. Iracema Arevalo for a medical mission trip she is leading in June to the Amazon region of Peru. Dr. Arevalo, who was born in Peru, is a ProMedica physician specializing in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. During the trip to the Peruvian rainforest, a team of medical personnel and volunteers will provide medical and dental care free of charge to Peruvians who have no other access to medical services. Medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, clothing, and shoes will also be delivered. The trip is sponsored by the Peruvian American Medical Society and includes physicians, surgeons, dentists, and volunteers from across the U.S., including volunteers from Fremont. Dr. Arevalo’s husband, Otto Gonzalez, and her daughter, Andrea Gonzalez, will accompany her as volunteer workers.
