The Rotary Club of Fremont partnered with the Fremont City Schools again this year to provide a program called STRIVE for 17 high school seniors. STRIVE stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education. The program goal is to help seniors identify and reach educational and career goals by providing the inspiration, knowledge, and tools they will need to succeed. Students participate in monthly meetings at the school and receive support and information from Rotarians who serve as mentors. Participants are encouraged to improve their attendance, attitude, grades, and participation.

On May 9 the Rotary Club of Fremont presented scholarships to the three STRIVE participants who showed extraordinary progress during the year. They were Alexis Green, DeNae James, and Tracy Mason.

Brianna Dykes received the Del Schulz Special Award Scholarship. Del Schulz was a business leader and member of the Rotary Club of Fremont. He worked on many community service projects and was instrumental in the establishment of Terra Community College. The scholarship in his memory is awarded to a student who has overcome significant barriers through hard work, who has a desire to be of service to others, and who plans to attend Terra Community College.
