The Rotary Club of Fremont recently celebrated its 90th anniversary with a gathering at the Down Thyme Restaurant.

The Fremont Club was founded in 1926 with Edward U. Hirt as its original President. The Club has supported many local and international service projects since its inception. Over the past eight years alone, the Club has donated $150,000 to local youth, the local community, and to international projects, including the drive to end polio. A donation was made to the Liberty Center in honor of the Club’s 90th anniversary.

Rotarian Hal Hawk and his wife Diane sponsored the Club’s anniversary celebration, which was attended by both the current Governor and Governor-Elect of Rotary District 6600, of which the Fremont Club is a member. They presented the Hawks with a gift of wine that was bottled in honor of the 100th anniversary of The Rotary Foundation, an organization that funds international service projects.
